Here’s Everything to Know about PIRATE Summit

There are few more enjoyable ways to pick up knowledge and network than a conference. Conferences provide a chance to talk to professionals in the same field and hear experts share their experience and knowledge. Plus, it all comes with the chance to travel. For those reasons and many others, PIRATE Summit is one to attend.
PIRATE Summit started in 2010 with entrepreneurs in mind. It is about connecting, debating, and learning with a focus on real-life experience. There is a lot to learn from failure and success, and the summit strives to be raw and authentic about the reality of entrepreneurship. And it is packed with world-class entrepreneurs and founders from around the world ready to share their own journeys.
While the conference does discuss tech, the main focus remains on what that tech builds and providing a truly unique experience. The summit is characterized by its festival-like atmosphere, which all starts with it taking place in Odonien, Cologne this year — a scrapyard turned outdoor art gallery. The area is plenty large enough for robots, fire, networking, and everything else needed to have a blast while speaking to experts, investors, and peers.
Additionally, PIRATE Summit welcomes everyone to attend and contribute. It can be a keynote, a fireside chat, or just sharing knowledge over a cold drink. Everybody and every form of sharing are appreciated and encouraged, with the entire event firmly rooted in the spirit of giving as much as possible.
Another reason to get excited about this year’s PIRATE Summit is the theme. This year’s theme is #RaiseYourselfwhich was selected after the results of last year’s online event. Clear interest in topics like mental health, personal growth, meditation, and more was observed, so it is the focus of this summit.
Topic tracks for PIRATE Summit 2022 include Raise Yourself, Re-humanize Work, Startup Tactics, Founder Stories, Climate Tech, and Tech Trends. While there will still be tactical learning and discussion sessions as well, they will all be tied to the bigger picture of the summit.
The truth is that entrepreneurs need to know how to take care of themselves and see the journey to the end healthy just as much as they need to know how to build a business. It is stressful, full of ups and downs, and requires more than just an understanding of business. And that is what PIRATE Summit plans to explore.
PIRATE Summit will take place from the 6th to the 7th of September, with 1,200 talented entrepreneurs, investors, corporates, and others gathering together for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Those attending can also look forward to the “Burn” ceremony, which is based on an old Cologne Carnival tradition called “Nubbelverbrennung.” It represents starting anew and involves lighting an eight-meter wooden statue on fire to burn what went bad the year before .
Last but not least, the “OUT OF THE BOX. NRW AWARD” (#OOTB) is coming to the summit. The purpose is to celebrate entrepreneurship by awarding NRW’s (North Rhine-Westphalia’s) top three digital startups with prize money totaling over $50,000 (€50,000).
